Our Origin Story

The principles of Bushbury Spark originated in 2021 from a heartfelt desire among its founders to forge a strong community bond among their neighbours in the wake of the pandemic lockdowns. Witnessing the isolation many neighbours experienced, the vision was to create a platform for connection and mutual support.

This commitment to community was further solidified through their time on the board of the local resource centre. Through innovative ideas and dedicated work in the community, and by consulting with, listening to, and acting upon the needs of the community, they were instrumental in dramatically increasing the centre's usage, transforming it into a vibrant hub for local residents.

Building on these successes, Bushbury Spark was established to not only keep these vital community connections alive but also to expand its vision, reaching across Bushbury and inspiring similar initiatives beyond its immediate vicinity.

 

Looking to the Future

Through sheer determination, innovation and hard work, we transformed a struggling resource centre into a thriving hub of activity.

We turned an underused, unwelcoming space into a warm and friendly environment, increasing footfall from just 20 visitors per week to over 140.

Since our departure from the centre, we have returned temporarily to our roots at the rear of the bungalows in Stanley Road, with the continued support of our members and the community our future is looking bright.
